The Port of Tyne is delighted to welcome two highly accomplished professionals to its Board as Non-Executive Directors, Judith Hartley MBE and James Wroe. Both bring a wealth of experience and specialist knowledge that will support the Port’s strategic ambitions and ongoing commitment to sustainable growth.
Judith Hartley MBE is an experienced finance professional with more than 30 years’ expertise spanning corporate banking and national business finance initiatives. She has held senior leadership roles at the British Business Bank, including serving as CEO of its
commercial investment division, and earlier in her career worked in corporate banking with Barclays and Bank of Scotland.
Now based in her native North East, Judith plays an active role in supporting the regional economy. She is Chair of the Alumni Advisory Board at Durham University’s Hazan Venture Lab, a Non-Executive Director for NEL Fund Managers Limited, and a trustee of the Point North Community Foundation.
In recognition of her outstanding contribution to UK business, Judith was awarded an MBE in the King’s 2025 New Year Honours for services to business.
James Wroe brings more than 20 years of experience in the ports and shipping industries. He is currently Managing Director for Ports & Logistics at InductEV, a provider of wireless charging technology for electric vehicles. Prior to this, James worked for Danish shipping giant Maersk across Europe and Asia, including roles as COO for Asia Pacific in Singapore, Head of Hub Port Investment in the Netherlands, and leading marine operations across Northern Europe. A Chartered Fellow of the Institute of Logistics & Transport, James began his career with P&O Nedlloyd.

James Wroe added:

With their combined knowledge and leadership, Judith and James will play a pivotal role in driving forward the Port’s vision and ensuring it continues to deliver for customers, communities, and the wider economy.
