BILOXI, Miss. (WLOX) — Sand is being pumped as part of a year-long beach replenishment project.
Contractors began dredging the Mississippi Sound in Biloxi near the lighthouse Monday morning.
The silt and sand appear black when they’re first pumped up from underwater, but after being spread across the beach, they gradually lighten and bleach in the sun.
