A Fisher’s Dam watershed restoration and protection program is nearing completion, Orwigsburg Borough Council learned at its May 13 meeting.

Toth Bros. Clearing and Dredging, Inc. is the contractor. Final completion is scheduled for May 31. Dredging work has been completed, and the contractor has stabilized the site.

Wastewater treatment plant upgrade work is on schedule with council approving a project to replace seven vertical loop reactor gates, five actuators, cleaning a VLR tank, and replacing two 12-inch UV isolation plug valves and actuators.

Orwigsburg police reported spending 38 hours monitoring crosswalks in an effort that resulted in eight citations issued.

Council approved a sewer credit of $894 for a resident who had a significant, undetected leak in the basement for an extended period. It was confirmed that water did not enter the sewer system, allowing for the credit.

Council approved a Miller Brothers pay application for $123,652 for veterans memorial construction and paying $130,480 for the dredging of Fisher’s Dam. Council also passed a motion to reaffirm a previous approval of a lot subdivision/boundary line adjustment with no conditions.
