Sad news for the Port of Baltimore as Executive Director Jonathan Daniels will be leaving the Maryland Port Administration later this summer to become Director and CEO of PortMiami.
Jonathan has been an outstanding leader and culture builder at the MPA and whose positive, genuine and humble nature helped him quickly forge close relationships with our stakeholders, labor, business partners and supporters. His steady hand and calm demeanor greatly helped guide the Port of Baltimore through one of the most challenging periods ever experienced by a port.
During his two years here, Jonathan led the Port of Baltimore to a record year for containers; its second-best year for cargo volumes; a new five-year contract with Carnival Cruise Line; a $147 million US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Clean Ports grant that is adding zero-emission equipment and charging infrastructure that will reduce emissions for the Port and our surrounding communities; additional federal funding to support our Mid-Chesapeake Bay environmental restoration project; and the start of double-stack container rail service that will grow our container business and generate more jobs.
