City leaders say years of sediment buildup have made parts of the river near Don White Memorial Park increasingly shallow, affecting activities like paddleboarding, kayaking, rowing, and fishing. Now, crews are preparing to dredge and deepen a section of the river to improve recreation and navigation.
The project will cover approximately 600 feet of river length and 100 feet of width, with plans to remove at least 12,000 cubic yards of sediment. The work is expected to cost up to $324,231.
Residents who regularly enjoy the Chattahoochee say the improvements are overdue and will help preserve one of Roswell’s most treasured outdoor destinations.
