Singapore activates new port operations command system

Posted on August 19, 2026

Singapore has brought a new integrated port operations command system into service to strengthen real-time oversight of vessel movements and incidents across its busy waters.

The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore said the Integrated Port Operations Command, Control and Communications system combines live data from multiple sources to give officers a real-time view of port operations. Developed with the Defence Science and Technology Agency and ST Engineering, the platform uses map-based tools to coordinate operations, share information, identify risks and speed up the deployment of resources.

MPA has also signed an agreement with marine robotics specialist Ocean Infinity to test autonomous vessels and remote marine operations in Singapore port waters. The trials will assess operational and safety requirements and help shape how autonomous vessels and remote operations centres could eventually be introduced in the port.

The initiatives were announced during Singapore Safety@Sea Week alongside a new confidential near-miss reporting system for maritime operators.

The new confidential online channel for reporting near-miss incidents in Singapore port waters is expected to boost maritime safety. The aim is to identify trends in these close calls and address safety risks before they lead to serious accidents. This could include vessels passing dangerously close to each other or crewmembers nearly tripping over unsecured equipment.
