The Western Dredging Association (WEDA) announced today the appointment of Stan Ekren as its new Executive Director, effective February 1, 2026.
A long-time WEDA member and respected dredging industry leader, Stan has more than 43 years of experience, including 28 years with Great Lakes Dredge & Dock and 15 years as a part owner of hopper dredge company B+B Dredging. His career includes work on major port development, beach nourishment, inland waterways, and environmental dredging projects across the United States and internationally.
Stan has completed contracts in 25 U.S. Army Corps of Engineers districts, as well as projects in Canada, the Caribbean, South America, and other global markets. Stan previously served on the WEDA Board of Directors from 2022 to 2025 and is a past president of both the WEDA Midwest and Pacific Chapters. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Construction Management from North Dakota State University and an MBA from Jacksonville University.
WEDA President Carol Shobrook said, “The WEDA Board of Directors welcomes Stan and looks forward to working with him to advance our core mission and strengthen WEDA’s role as a central hub for the dredging industry.”
