USACE Seeks Public Ideas for Beneficial Use of Dredged Material in Mobile Bay

Posted on October 14, 2026

U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District, invites the public to share ideas for using dredged material from the Upper Mobile Bay Channel to benefit coastal habitats, communities, and the local economy. Public meetings are scheduled for Oct. 27 and 29, 2026.

The meetings will support an assessment of beneficial use opportunities for the Upper Mobile Bay Channel and Mobile Harbor. Participants can learn about the assessment, suggest project ideas and potential locations, and provide feedback to help develop recommendations for future beneficial use.

Beneficial use means putting material removed during dredging to a useful purpose. The assessment will explore ecological, community, and industrial uses that could support the coast, communities, habitats, and economy.

The public meetings will be held:
