The St. Johns County Ocean and Fishing Pier will close temporarily beginning May 13 as crews begin a construction project to repair and reinforce pilings, officials announced.
Work is expected to continue through the end of November.
During construction, visitors may notice limited parking impacts near the pavilion area.
Officials are asking the public to follow all posted detour and traffic signs.
Activities and permitted events at nearby Ocean Pier Park will continue as scheduled.
The northern access point to St. Augustine Beach will be closed for the duration of the project.
Beachgoers will need to use the southern entrance for all beach access.
For safety reasons, access beneath the pier will be fully restricted.
Surfers and swimmers are advised to stay at least 500 feet away from the pier while work is underway.
Despite the construction, the Pier Gift Shop will remain open throughout the project period.
