The Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP) has announced the appointment of Mark Hardiman as its new CEO, effective from January 2, 2024, succeeding Marco Neelsen who had served seven years in the role.
Hardiman was previously the CEO at the Port of Salalah and has held various leadership positions in the Middle East.
He was COO and managing director at Khalifa Bin Salman Port and general manager for the Africa, Middle East and India (AMI) region under APM Terminal’s (APMT) regional office in Dubai.
Hardiman said: “I am honoured to be part of PTP, an established regional transhipment hub with a long and successful track record in the industry.
“I look forward to working with the board of directors and the team and am confident in our ability to achieve our growth plans and further cement our strong relations with our clients.”
Citing factors behind the hire, PTP noted Hardiman’s track record in port management, dedication to safety and success in complex situations, including with governments and at ministerial level for issues such as concession negotiations.
Tan Sri Che Khalib Mohamad Noh, PTP chairman, said: “Mark is a dynamic, values-driven business leader who has a diverse background of experiences and an excellent track record of delivery in the global port, maritime and logistics industry.
“PTP is looking forward to Mark realising the full potential of PTP as one of the leading regional transhipment hubs in the Straits of Malacca which delivers long-term growth and value for all its stakeholders.”
PTP, a joint venture between MMC Group (70%) and APMT (30%), is one of Malaysia’s busiest transhipment hubs with a capacity to handle 13m teu annually and was ranked 16th in CM’s World Top Container Ports 2023 edition.
