The Port Authority of Rotterdam has appointed Friedrich-Wilhelm Meyer to represent the German southwestern states.
Meyer will oversee Germany’s southwestern area with Wolfgang Schlegel, who was appointed last year.
Meyer and Schlegel thereby follow Roland Klein, who has held the office for the previous nine years.
Meyer has experience in the German automobile industry and has held several logistics management positions in both Germany and the US. He has a vast network and substantial expertise in international supply chain management.
Meyer, who represents the Port of Rotterdam, is concerned with expanding the regional network and serves as a point of contact for shippers, industry groups, local governments, carriers, and freight forwarders.
Due to the existence of numerous significant industrial companies, Germany’s southwestern region serves as a key hinterland for the Port of Rotterdam.
The port’s goal is to expand its position as a logistics centre in the area by managing volumes in a sustainable and effective manner.
In February, the Port Authority of Rotterdam appointed Boudewijn Siemons as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
