Demolition work on the former Tubimar facility in the port of Ancona will begin in December and continue for 180 days . The contract with the winning company was signed yesterday afternoon at the Central Adriatic Sea Port Authority headquarters, following the Regional Administrative Court’s rejection of a competing company’s request for interim relief. Work totaling €405,000 is planned on the 15,260 square meters of the pavilions damaged by the 2020 fire, where new businesses related to the luxury yachting district are expected to be located in the future. This represents a step forward in the reclamation of an area essential to the development of the port.
“The Management Committee had already envisioned an increase in the space available for this highly specialized and growing sector,” explains Port Authority President Mirco Carloni , “and we can finally look to the future of an area that has been stalled for years, first by the necessary investigations into the fire and then by this administrative appeal. The Nautical District represents a national industrial excellence, given that 15-20% of Italian-made yachts are built in Ancona. Providing additional space, as envisioned by the previous Garofalo presidency, means laying the foundation for developing the sector’s full potential.”
The tender for the entire former Tubimar area provides for the provision of two plots of varying sizes, 16,175 and 14,200 square meters, respectively, for concessions ranging from 4 to 30 years. Since the area will be affected by construction work on the new port road system, additional spaces will be made available upon completion of these works to support the work on the main concession lots. Companies that settle there will be able to take advantage of the administrative simplifications provided by the National Single Zone (ZES).
