The Grand Isle Port Commission award a $4.3 million contract to Sea Level Construction for the pier and bulkhead project.
The project will consist of repairing the pier and bulkhead along Bayou Rigaud on both the east and west end of the GIPC commercial dock area. The GIPC commercial dock is located on the bay side of Grand Isle.
The work was initiated in 2017 as a Federal Emergency Management Agency-funded project to repair damages from Hurricane Isaac. But the project was delayed due to increased repair costs and securing the required funding.
Construction started last month and is set for completion in May.
