Freeman Park to close for beach nourishment equipment removal

CAROLINA BEACH, N.C. (WECT) – Freeman Park will be closed for three days next week as part of the beach nourishment project, town officials said.

According to the Town of Carolina Beach, the contractor, Norfolk Dredging, finished the sand placement portion of the project earlier this week and has begun removing equipment.

The town said that crews are focusing on the removal of turbine engines at the Ocean Boulevard beach access and Freeman Park, as well as piping in front of the Central Business District in Carolina Beach.
