Dredging at Tootgarook/Capel Sound boat ramp is complete, thanks to your boating licence and rego fees.
This pretty spectacular view is thanks to Capel Sound Foreshores, who scored a Rec Boating Grant to clear the channel that leads from the ramp to deeper water.
The work here is undertaken annually due to high levels of sand movement in the area. Sand is removed and trucked back above the high watermark to replenish the beach.
With dredging complete, marker buoys recently damaged by storms will be replaced in coming weeks to ensure boaters can safely navigate to deeper water.
It’s one of 7 locations we recently announced would benefit from funding to conduct or plan dredging including four on this side of the bay. They include nearby Anthony’s Nose and Kananook Creek while Mornington Peninsula Shire will dredge one of its ramps following detailed underwater surveys.
