Mobilization for the continuation of beach replenishment on Long Beach Island – from Beach Haven through Holgate – is happening now, as contractor Great Lakes Dredge and Dock Co.’s three dredges are expected to return soon to resume operations.
According to U.S. Army Corps of Engineers public affairs officer Steve Rochette, the dredge “Liberty Island may arrive on Sunday and begin dredging operations. Crews are st?ill setting up the lines for the Dodge Island and Padre Island so they may arrive a few days after that.”
The Liberty Island is scheduled to start at Nelson Avenue in Beach Haven and head north, while the Dodge Island and Padre Island will begin around 13th Street in the borough and move south. The dredges will meet somewhere in between the starting points.
