After installing the first transition piece in August, our project team, working from Sea Installer, has now successfully installed the final one at the Nordlicht I offshore wind farm in the German North Sea. With the monopile campaign already completed at the end of September, this marks the completion of the first phase of 68 foundations for Nordlicht I. The next phase, covering 44 foundations for Nordlicht II, will start in summer 2027. Once complete, Nordlicht I will become Germany’s largest offshore wind farm.
This milestone builds on the work that started in April, when our fallpipe vessels Flintstone and Yellowstone began the scour protection works for Nordlicht I. From seabed protection with Flintstone and Yellowstone to monopile installation with Orion and transition piece installation with Sea Installer, DEME’s fleet is covering every step of the foundation scope at Nordlicht.
Congratulations to everyone involved for safely delivering this important milestone. Thank you to Vattenfall and all project partners for the strong collaboration that made this achievement possible. Another great example of One DEME, One Team in action.
