Workers are dredging mud and silt in the area near Dong Hai Secondary School.
At many sewer lines, workers are divided into teams and simultaneously open the covers to dredge and collect accumulated waste, soil, sand, and other obstructions, thereby clearing the waterway.
At the drainage outlets, workers are clearing trees and bushes, dredging mud, creating trenches, and widening the waterways to ensure smooth water drainage.
Carry out dredging and clearing of the waterway at Ngo Sy Lien sluice gate to allow water to drain into Nha Le River.
Mr. Nguyen Danh Nhien, Head of the Underground Drainage Team, Thanh Hoa Urban Environment and Construction Joint Stock Company, said: “We are dredging the Ngo Si Lien culvert, serving the drainage needs of Ho Thanh, Tan Son areas and some nearby residential areas. The dredging aims to remove mud, waste and obstructions, ensuring the flow into the Nha Le River and increasing drainage capacity during heavy rains .”

However, in some locations, a significant amount of silt and debris accumulates. In some places, silt is buried and piled up near the top of the drains, significantly narrowing the flow cross-section. This is one of the main causes of localized flooding.
This situation raises the issue of the need to raise awareness among a segment of the population regarding the maintenance of the drainage system. At the same time, the accumulation of silt, soil, and waste over time in some locations also raises the question: are regular inspections, maintenance, and dredging of the drainage system being carried out frequently enough?
