ANAHUAC— The Chambers-Liberty Counties Navigation District continues to work on infrastructure improvements and dredging the Double Bayou Channel.
CLCND met on Tuesday, May 19, where the board discussed a few projects.
CLCND Canal Superintendent Reginald Lewis shared continued updates to the Lake Pump House infrastructure improvements, noting on Tuesday, May 26, installation of controls began.
The work is part of the new soft start system installation, which began in April.
CLCND General Manager Claudia Sandoval shared that Apollo Environmental Strategies began dredging in the Oak Island area.
The work is part of a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers bid of about $3.6 million to dredge the Double Bayou channel.
After a brief executive session, the board motioned to allow the district’s attorney to prepare CLCND-recommended terms for the Port of Liberty and Blue Group for services rendered by the Texas Department of Transportation’s Maritime Division.
Sandoval explained that the Maritime Division analyzes all ports to create a profile for the port.
The analysis is part of the biennial TxDOT Port Mission Plan, which prepares port profiles for the Legislature.
According to the minutes from the Tuesday, April 21 meeting, the Maritime Division gathered drone footage the week before from the Port of Liberty to the Double Bayou Channel.
