On May 1, Lt. Gen. Scott A. Spellmon, 55th Chief of Engineers and Commanding General of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, presented two individuals with the Gold Order of de Fleury Medal for outstanding contributions to the U.S. Army Engineer Regiment during a ceremony at Fort Leonard Wood – Lt. Gen. (Retired) Todd Semonite and Maj. Gen. (Retired) Bryan Watson. The Army Engineer Association on behalf of the U.S. Army Engineer Regiment awards the de Fleury Medal to honor individuals who have provided significant contributions to Army engineering. The medal is named for French Engineer François-Louis Teissèdre de Fleury, who in 1777 volunteered to serve with the American Army in its fight for independence from Britain. There are four award levels of the de Fleury Medal, with gold being the highest. We extend our thanks and congratulations!
