WASHINGTON – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is pleased to announce two senior Information Technology leader appointments for the USACE CIO/G-6.

Mr. Allen Strunk, Director of G-6

Strunk will oversee the missions of the USACE G-6. He will lead a team of approximately 370 technology employees across the USACE enterprise focused on delivering effective and resilient IT services to meet the USACE mission and provide IT services to employees worldwide. He will also drive key modernization efforts in cloud adoption, data strategy, and enterprise architecture.

“Allen brings a wealth of IT knowledge and leadership experience that will contribute and enhance our G-6 organization. His expertise is critical as we modernize our systems to overcome future threats and enhance IT services globally,” said Mr. Jason Barrett, USACE chief information officer (CIO). “We are very fortunate to have a leader of his caliber, who is already familiar with the USACE mission, to lead our G-6 teams. We are in great hands.”

Strunk’s experience spans more than 35 years within the IT profession, serving as both a Soldier and a civilian. Most recently, he served as chief of Information Management with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Europe District, where he was responsible for leading IT mission execution in the U.S. European Command and U.S. Africa Command areas of responsibility.

“I am honored and excited to take on the responsibilities of the USACE G-6 director. I look forward to leading our exceptional team and leveraging cutting-edge technology to enhance mission capabilities, ensuring our divisions, districts and mission partners have the decisive information advantage they need to succeed in any environment,” Strunk said.

Under his leadership, the G-6 will continue its enterprise-wide modernization of IT systems and tools. This effort better positions USACE to support and accomplish its critical mission.

Mr. Denis Gizinski, Chief Technology Officer

Gizinski will be responsible for overseeing the technology mission within USACE. He will synchronize organizational technology efforts around leveraging AI within USACE and lead efforts to develop future technology strategies to deliver the best tools across the USACE enterprise.

“Adding Mr. Gizinski to the team enhances our capabilities and adds another innovative problem-solving capacity to our technology modernization efforts at USACE. He will serve as a critical component in enabling and harnessing cutting-edge technology successfully,” said Mr. Barrett. “Having Denis on board is a huge win for all USACE. He enhances our technological acumen and will help us make the best decisions around technology and our available IT tools.”

Gizinski brings more than 20 years of experience in Army and IT leadership. Most recently, he served as the CIO and deputy director G-6 for the United States Army Reserve. In that role, he was the central authority for all related program planning, policy, and governance for U.S. Army Reserve Command information management and its IT portfolio within the Army Reserve.

“I am truly honored to join the CIO/G 6 team and eager to contribute to advancing the CIO’s strategic vision. Together, we will chart a clear path toward greater technology alignment across the broader Army and the DoW. This alignment will position us to accelerate the responsible adoption of artificial intelligence (AI), enabling us to reimagine how we manage, secure and leverage data—particularly the data distributed across USACE’s diverse automated information systems (AIS). As we continue modernizing these systems, we will focus on integrating Army and DoW approved AI capabilities that enhance mission effectiveness and prepare our enterprise for the future. I look forward to working alongside this exceptional team to drive meaningful, lasting progress” said Gizinski.

Through his efforts, USACE will be able to evaluate technology decisions with a clearer lens and greater strategic depth. His work will help set the conditions for the CIO/G-6 to be better positioned to support and accomplish the USACE mission.
