The long-awaited dredging of the Cape Cod Canal and restoration of Town Neck Beach will have to wait a bit longer, officials said.
Equipment has been moved into place and the metal piping that will pump sand onto Town Neck Beach is at the ready, but the dredge owned by Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Co. has not yet made it to local waters.
“As is the case with many dredging projects, the start of the dredging work has been delayed,” Bill Kavanaugh, project manager for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, wrote in an email Wednesday.’
