The House of Representatives Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has revealed that it will hold an investigative hearing with port operators who are allegedly owing the Lagos State Government over $800 million.
Chairman of the committee, Wole Oke (PDP, Osun) stated this at the committee’s sitting over the weekend saying that the sitting will hold in Lagos to meet with all the operators and representatives of the Lagos State Government.
According to him, relocating the investigative hearing to Lagos will help the committee get to the root of the matter and a quick resolution.
Oke said since the Nigeria Ports Authority (NPA) needed to be present alongside the port operators, Lagos would be the best place that will bring the investigation closer to the persons and entities involved.
He said, “The parliament will move the hearing to Lagos where all parties will meet with us at Marriott Hotel in Ikeja between December 8 and 9. We hope to resolve this issue once and for all. Eight Hundred (800) million dollars is not small money”.
