The MBS Logistics Group has appointed Axel Hinz as Managing Director for its offices in the greater Hamburg area, with immediate effect.

In his new role, Hinz will lead the strategic development of the MBS branches in Hamburg and Norderstedt. At the same time, he will leverage his sea freight expertise to support the global management team in enhancing this product across the MBS Group.

Hinz brings more than 35 years of experience in the logistics sector, with a strong track record in air and ocean freight.

He has held leadership positions at several European logistics companies, including JCL Logistics, Rhenus, Geis Group and Damco.

He takes over from his predecessor Arne Lorenzen, who will retire after 15 years as Managing Director for the offices in northern Germany.

In addition to driving the growth of MBS activities in the Hamburg area, Hinz’s experience is also anticipated to play a crucial role in advancing innovative ocean freight solutions throughout the entire MBS Group.

He will support the Group in further optimising its ocean freight procurement strategies, ensuring continued success amidst fluctuating market conditions.

“I am excited and energised to lead the MBS branches in northern Germany,” said Hinz.

“Over the years, I have always admired the MBS Group’s customer-centric approach, agile mindset, and collaborative spirit. I look forward to working together with my local colleagues and the global management team to meaningfully drive value creation for our customers and long-term growth.”

Earlier this month, Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (APSEZ) promoted CEO Karan Adani to the role of Managing Director.

More recently, the Hamburg Port Authority (HPA) appointed Roman Fürtig as its new Head of Port of Hamburg Marketing’s Representative Office Germany East.
