Jan De Nul: Vole au vent installs final turbine for wind farm in France

Posted on May 4, 2026

Last Monday, our jack-up installation vessel Vole au vent installed the final of 61 wind turbines at the Îles d’Yeu et de Noirmoutier offshore wind farm in France, developed by EMYN, a local player in offshore renewable energy. This marks the completion of the installation works, with all turbines now operating at full capacity. The wind farm will generate enough renewable electricity to power approximately 800,000 people each year.

In collaboration with SGRE, the crew of Vole au vent installed the 61 Siemens Gamesa wind turbines between the islands of Yeu and Noirmoutier in the Atlantic Ocean. Installation works began in May 2025 and were successfully completed this week.

Key milestone for France’s energy targets

France’s maritime domain spans 11 million km², making it the second largest globally. The country has outlined ambitious plans to harness this potential, targeting an increase in offshore capacity from 1.5 GW today to an additional 40 GW. The completion of the Îles d’Yeu et de Noirmoutier wind farm, adding 500 MW of capacity, represents an important step in that direction.
