Hamburg Port Authority CEO Jens Meier began his two-year term as president of the International Association of Ports and Harbors yesterday.
The naming of the new president took place at the 2023 World Ports Conference in Abu Dhabi on November 2. Capt. K. Subranamiam, GM of Port Klang Authority, Malaysia, preceded Meier in the role.
Over the past six decades, IAPH has developed into a global alliance of ports and represents today some 177 ports and 147 port-related businesses in 84 countries.
Jens Meier
Meier has more than 25 years’ experience in the field of port, logistics, IT, and finance and has been serving as CEO of HPA since 2008. He has held board positions at Fiege Holding, tts Group, Systematics (later EDS), and Software Design & Management (Ernst & Young Group.)
New regional vice presidents elected for North America and Europe
IAPH elected Port of Los Angeles Executive Director Gene Seroka (first row, third right) as the new regional VP for North America, stepping into the shoes of Robin Silvester as outgoing president and CEO of Vancouver Fraser Port Authority.
Haropa Port CEO and Chair of the Management Board Stephane Raison (second row, third right) is the new regional VP for Europe, stepping into Meier’s previous role.
