SEATTLE, WA – Seattle Port Commissioner Courtney Gregoire won’t run for reelection in 2019, she said in a statement Friday. Gregoire said that she will be “exploring new opportunities in public service.

“When I became a commissioner in 2013, I set out three goals: first, support and expand good-paying, middle-class jobs; second, make the Port of Seattle a national leader in environmental stewardship; and third, ensure that the Port reflects our Northwest values by protecting our workers and our residents. I am incredibly proud of our progress on all three fronts,” she said in a statement.

Two candidates have registered to run for seats on the commission this year, but neither candidate has filed to run for Gregoire’s position 2 seat, according to state records.

Gregoire, daughter of former governor Christine Gregoire, is in her second term on the port commission. Her term ends at the end of 2019.
