Surveying contractor Gahagan & Bryant Associates (GBA) has begun surveying the beach in preparation for Carteret County’s upcoming beach renourishment project.
Crews will conduct land-based and water-based surveys. Land surveys will use a truck marked with the GBA logo and GPS equipment. Hydrographic measurements will be taken from a survey vessel marked with the GBA logo.
The survey boat may come close to shore during this process, so please do not be alarmed. If you are fishing or swimming and see the boat approaching, please reel in your lines and move to a different area until the boat passes.
The work is expected to take approximately three weeks to complete, weather permitting.
