Sweden’s AtoB@C Shipping, a subsidiary of Finland’s ESL Shipping, is continuing its fleet renewal program by adding six low-emission vessels to its fleet between 2025 and 2027 after securing long-term time charter contracts with Hamburg-based shipowner BAAS Shipping.

The 5,900DWT ice class 1A vessels will be designed by Dutch naval architecture firm Groot Ship Design. AtoB@C Shipping said the newbuildings’ modern and efficient lines will enable an almost 50 per cent reduction in CO2 emissions compared to the 5,000DWT vessels currently in the company’s fleet.

The vessels are also designed to flexibly accommodate different types of cargo by having one 71-metre long, box-shaped hold of nearly 9,100 cubic metres and a partial tween deck, which can also be used as bulkheads.

The 5,900DWT vessels will be delivered AtoB@C Shipping beginning in 2025 following construction in China. The first two vessels have already been completed and are due to enter service in the coming weeks.
