A proud milestone as DCIL marks five decades of service to India’s maritime growth

Mumbai 2026: Dredging Corporation of India Limited (DCIL) has been honoured with the prestigious “Dredging Company of the Year” Award 2026 at the The Economic Times Global Ports & Shipping Awards 2026, recognising the organisation’s contribution to India’s port and maritime infrastructure and its commitment to excellence in dredging.

Capt. S. Divakar, MD & CEO, DCIL, received the prestigious award on behalf of the entire DCIL family and its stakeholders. Expressing his gratitude, Capt. Divakar said, “This award is a great honour for Dredging Corporation of India and a wonderful encouragement for us to continue our journey of excellence, innovation and nation-building. I am receiving this award not as the MD & CEO of DCIL, but on behalf of the entire DCIL family and all our stakeholders.”

Established in 1976, DCIL began its journey with a modest fleet of four dredgers and has, over five decades, grown into a strong and capable organisation with a fleet of more than ten dredgers, playing an important role in India’s port and maritime development.

Reflecting on this remarkable journey, Capt. Divakar said, “Our journey from four dredgers to more than ten dredgers is not merely a story of growth; it is a story of trust, perseverance, capability and service to the nation.”

As DCIL celebrates its Golden Jubilee and five decades of dedicated service, the Company places on record its sincere gratitude to its four esteemed promoter ports—Visakhapatnam Port Authority, Paradip Port Authority, Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority and Deendayal Port Authority—for their continued trust and support.Capt. Divakar also expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways for its constant guidance and encouragement.

The prestigious recognition by The Economic Times marks a significant milestone in DCIL’s Golden Jubilee year and reinforces its commitment to excellence, innovation and strengthening India’s maritime infrastructure.
