The Louisiana Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority (CPRA) recently welcomed Clay Parker as the agency’s Deputy Director.

“I’m honored to join CPRA and contribute to the critical work of protecting Louisiana’s coast,” said Parker. “As someone who has spent my entire life here, I understand the importance of preserving our natural resources. I look forward to working alongside this talented team to make a lasting impact.”

Before joining CPRA, Parker served as Special Counsel for the Governor’s Office of Coastal Activities. In that capacity, he provided project management for reorganizing the Department of Energy and Natural Resources and legal counsel for establishing the Natural Resources Trust Authority and the proposed Coordinated Use of Resources for Recreation, Economy, Navigation, and Transportation (CURRENT) Authority. He also served as counsel to the Natural Resources Steering Commission.

With a background in civil engineering and law, Parker brings a unique combination of technical and legal expertise to CPRA’s mission of protecting and restoring Louisiana’s coast.

“Clay’s strong commitment to Louisiana’s coast, combined with his expertise in civil engineering and law from LSU, gives him a comprehensive understanding of the challenges and opportunities before us,” said CPRA Executive Director Glenn Ledet Jr. “As a lifelong Louisiana resident, he is deeply passionate about our mission to protect and restore the coast. We are excited to have him join us and confident that his leadership will significantly and positively impact our agency.”

Parker holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and a juris doctorate from LSU and is a licensed attorney and notary public in Louisiana. He is also an FAA-licensed private pilot. In his free time, Parker enjoys spending time with his family, maintaining their cattle farm, and saltwater fishing on Louisiana’s beautiful coast.
