Anderson Pomini, a lawyer with extensive experience in Public, Constitutional, Political, and Electoral Law, has been approved by the Brazilian federal government and the Board of Directors of the Santos Port Authority (SPA) as the public company’s new CEO. Pomini, who has a Master’s degree in Political and Economic Law from the Presbyterian Mackenzie University in São Paulo, will be responsible for achieving a range of goals, including promoting the sustainable expansion of the Port of Santos, the completion of the Santos-Guarujá tunnel, and the promotion of the Port-Cities relationship.

Additionally, the new SPA board includes Bernadete Bacellar do Carmo Mercier, a lawyer, as Director of Administration and Finance; Carlos Magano, an engineer, as Director of Infrastructure; Eduardo Lustoza, as Director of Business Development and Regulation; and Antônio de Pádua de Deus Andrade, also an engineer, as Director of Operations.

Pomini, who founded the law firm Pomini Sociedade de Advogados, has also served as the Secretary of Justice in the city of São Paulo, a parliamentary secretary in the Chamber of Deputies, and has a broad experience in public law, particularly in election law.

“The Port Authority will be maintained as a state agency, ensuring essential and strategic services for Brazil’s most important transportation and infrastructure logistics equipment. We will continue the concession processes for terminals and dredging services for a longer period, meet technological evolution needs, improve port cleanliness and access, build the Santos-Guarujá tunnel, and revitalize the [wharf] Cais do Valongo. To do so, I am already in contact with the sector’s main leaders, following Minister Márcio França’s guidance, who is enthusiastic about the Port of Santos and is from the region. I thank him for the opportunity and trust he has given me for this important mission,” state Pomini, the new Santos Port Authority CEO.

The new Director of Administration and Finance, Bernadete Mercier, has previously served as a Superintendent and Legal Manager of SPA, a Legal Affairs Secretary in the São Vicente City Hall, and a Legislative Advisor to Márcio França during his time as a federal deputy. She is also a professor at Santa Cecília University.

The new Director of Business Development and Regulation, Eduardo Lustoza, is an engineer with a master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and a researcher at Santa Cecília University. He has worked for several port companies, served as a port consultant, and was a spokesperson for the “Vou de Túnel” campaign, which advertised the benefits of building an inter-city tunnel over a bridge between Santos and Guarujá, which both houses terminals belonging to the Port of Santos.

The new Director of Infrastructure, Carlos Eduardo Bueno Magano, is a civil engineer who previously served as the director of the former Codesp, a director of major logistics companies, a port consultant, and the former president of the port workers union Sopesp.

The new Director of Operations, Antônio de Pádua Deus de Andrade, is an engineer with postgraduate degrees in Production Engineering, Occupational Safety, and People Management. He served as the Minister of National Integration, the Engineering Director of the former Codesp, and the Transport Secretary in Pará. He led large-scale projects across Brazil, such as the transposition of the São Francisco River.
