Boskalis to Transport Great Changhua Foundation to Taiwan for Wind Farms

Posted on July 19, 2024

Starting the end of 2024, Boskalis will transport 66 suction bucket jacket foundations and one offshore substation (OSS) to Orsted’s Greater Changhua 2b and 4 offshore wind farm in Taiwan.

Boskalis will deploy four of its semi-submersible heavy transport vessels – Black Marlin, Blue Marlin, Mighty Servant 3 and Transshelf – to transport the foundations and the OSS.

They will journey from Singapore/Batam and the port of Taichung to the offshore wind farm in the Taiwan Strait.

Boskalis said that in recent years, cargoes have increasingly been destined for the realisation of offshore wind farms, such as monopiles, jacket foundations as well as kilometres of power cable that transport the generated power at sea to the mainland.

For the latter, it equipped the Transshelf with three modular cable carousels.

Prior to the Greater Changhua 2b and 4 project, these will be removed to create space for the transport of the OSS topside.
