The Carroll government has revealed its preferred route for a 60-kilometre transmission line through Victorian farmland to connect offshore wind projects to the electricity grid, pushing ahead with the plan less than a week after pausing a separate contentious power line plan.
Labor on Monday will announce plans for a strip of land about 200 metres wide to run from a new terminal station on the coast near Gifford to the Loy Yang power station switch yard in the Latrobe Valley, which is already part of the electricity grid as it connects existing coal-fired power station infrastructure.
