Boskalis Secures Second UXO Clearance Contract for 976.5 MW Gennaker Offshore Wind Farm in Germany

Posted on November 2, 2026

From clearing the seabed to connecting wind turbine generators, Boskalis’ contribution to the Gennaker offshore wind farm in the German Baltic Sea continues to grow. Following a successful survey and identification & clearance (IDC) campaign for unexploded ordnance (UXO) along the inter-array grid cable routes, Boskalis Hirdes EOD Services has also been contracted for a second UXO IDC campaign. For our client OWP Gennaker, our vessel Kamara will investigate approximately 850 additional targets and clear identified UXO where necessary. This campaign will prepare the seabed within dedicated corridors: areas where the foundation installation vessel can safely deploy and maneuver its anchors during the installation of the offshore wind farm’s 63 foundations.

Our involvement goes beyond seabed preparation. Last year, OWP Gennaker awarded Boskalis Subsea Cables and our consortium partner TKF Subsea Solutions the contract to supply and install approximately 130 kilometers of 66 kV inter-array grid cables. TKF will manufacture the cables in the Netherlands, after which Boskalis’ specialized cable-laying vessel BOKA Ocean will begin the installation in late 2027. With a capacity of up to 976.5 MW, the Gennaker offshore wind farm will become the largest offshore wind farm in the German Baltic Sea, supplying clean energy to approximately one million households.
