Protecting oceanfront homes and businesses by sustaining a healthy shoreline — that’s the goal of the beach nourishment project in Kure and Carolina Beaches. Over the next several months, the Army Corps of Engineers will be dredging offshore and replacing damaged outfalls on the beach.
Kure Beach Pier Owner Mike Robertson said the nourishment project is crucial in preserving the coastal community.
“These folks have homes here. They have vacation homes here. Those are memories that you can’t put back, and the beach renourishment is a protection for that,” said Robertson.
