APMT announces new Managing Director of APMT Maasvlakte II

Posted on March 20, 2023

APM Terminals (APMT) has announced that former CEO of MSC PSA European Terminal in Antwerp, Harold Kunst, will be the new Managing Director of APMT Maasvlakte II in the port of Rotterdam.

Kunst will officially start in the new role on 1 August.

The terminal will be temporarily managed by Rob Sponselee, former Managing Director of APMT Rotterdam, in the meantime.

Kunst has prior experience with APMT, having begun his career with A.P. Moller – Maersk in 1996 and previously held different roles in APMT.

APMT has reported that the current managing director of APM Terminals Maasvlakte II, Jan Buijzejan-Buijze, will become Regional Project Director for Africa & Europe, located in Lagos, Nigeria.

Buijzejan-Buijze’s new position will be officially effective from 1 April.

His new position will have a particular emphasis on supporting APM Terminals in Africa.

Buijzejan-Buijze has spent the past four years preparing APM Terminals Maasvlakte II for the upcoming extensive expansion project with the aim of doubling terminal’s capacity, according to APMT.

“With this key project now having received necessary stakeholder approvals, it is expected to be formalised shortly, creating an opportune moment for Buijzejan-Buijze to hand over the baton to his successor,” reported APMT.

In February 2023, APM Terminals (APMT) Mobile announced a $60 million investment in expanding its rail infrastructure capabilities to double capacity.
