APM Terminals has appointed Marliz Bermúdez the new Head of Investments for the Americas Region, and Beatriz Yera as the Managing Director for APM Terminals in Mexico, effective 15 April 2024.
With these new appointments, APM Terminals reaffirms its goal of becoming the best terminal company in the Americas with innovation, digitisation, and cutting-edge technology. This will drive logistics and commercial capacity in the region and opportunities such as attracting investments derived from nearshoring in the North American trade bloc.
“With the appointment of Marliz Bermúdez as Head of Investments for the Americas and Beatriz Yera as Managing Director for APM Terminals Mexico, we continue our mission to lift efficiency, reliability and safety for our customers in Mexico and accelerate our growth in the Americas,” said Leo Huisman, Regional Manager Director for APM Terminals Americas.
With more than 25 years of experience, Yera has held various international leadership roles in the areas of freight, procurement, commercial, ports and terminals. She has demonstrated a firm commitment to guiding business transformations, fostering a culture of continuous learning, and driving strategic initiatives. Beatriz has had previous roles in Mexico, where she held the role of Sales Manager for Maersk from 2005 to 2008 and Chief Commercial Officer for APM Terminals Lázaro Cárdenas from 2013 to 2015.
As Managing Director for APM Terminals in Mexico, Bermudez played a key role in establishing a more efficient structure in the country to lead and consolidate the expansion of Phase II of Lázaro Cárdenas, set to begin operations in early 2026. A USD 140 million investment will increase capacity for the first semi-automated terminal in Latin America, with an additional one million TEUs to position it as a hub for the Americas region.
She started her career aboard Merchant Marine vessels in 2003, marking the beginning of her journey in the maritime industry. Over the past 17 years, Bermudez has held different roles across operational, commercial, and project implementation areas within both liner and terminal businesses.
APM Terminals reaffirms its commitment in the Americas and Mexico region to continue raising the standard of efficiency, responsibility, connectivity, and proactivity in the industry.
