All monopiles installed at Scotland’s Inch Cape Offshore Wind Farm

Posted on June 15, 2026

We have successfully installed all the project’s 54 giant monopiles in the North Sea off the Scottish coast. Since the first installation in December, our heavy lift vessel Les Alizés has been transiting to and from the Port of Leith in Edinburgh collecting five monopiles per voyage and steadily installing them across the site.

In today’s uncertain world, energy independence has become more important than ever. And offshore wind is a key part of the solution. Inch Cape, a 50/50 equal joint venture by ESB and Red Rock Renewables, are developing a 1080 MW Offshore Wind Farm located 15 kilometres off the Angus coast in Scotland. The project will generate enough clean electricity to power half of all Scottish homes while reducing carbon emissions by 2.5 million tonnes each year.

Take a look at our work on Inch Cape

With our heavy lift vessel Les Alizés, we transported and installed all monopile foundations for the Inch Cape Offshore Wind Farm. These foundations will support 15 MW Vestas turbines, making Inch Cape the first offshore wind farm in the United Kingdom to use this turbine model. The campaign started in

December 2025 and was successfully completed over the following six months, despite challenging winter weather conditions combined with challenging soil conditions.

Monopiles of record dimensions

At up to 101 metres long and weighing around 2,300 tonnes, these were the largest and heaviest monopiles we have ever installed and among the largest ever used for an offshore wind farm.

Project developers working together

Together with our client, Inch Cape, we are building the foundations for a more secure and sustainable energy future.

Les Alizés has been on long-term charter to RWE, which leased the vessel to Inch Cape in a period between its own construction projects.
