WEYBURN— The City of Weyburn has awarded the 2026 lagoon dredging project to Taber Solids Control of Edmonton, Alta., for a total of $311,035, including PST.
The contract was approved by council at its regular meeting on Aug. 10. The project budget had allocated $260,000 for the work, but the overage will be covered by unused funds from the capital utility budget that were originally set aside for the Lift Station 6 upgrade project.
The dredging consists of the removal of approximately 10,000 m³ of accumulated sludge (biosolids) from the sludge cells (10 & 13) at the lagoon treatment facility located south of the Nickle Lake reservoir. The scope of work includes dredging, sludge dewatering, sampling and laboratory analysis of the dried sludge, and temporary on-site stockpiling of dewatered sludge in a lined containment area approved by the city.
The Request for Proposal (RFP) was posted on July 13, on the city’s online bidding portal. Proposals were due by July 31. Five proposals were received. The qualifying bids, including PST were as follows:
-Taber Solids Control $311,035.
-CLEAN HARBORS $740,896.
-Campbell Energy & Environmental Services Ltd. $821,100.
-GFL Environmental Services Inc. $880,967.
