Land & Water will install a sheet pile wall on the Canal, complete with concrete backfill

Posted on April 8, 2021

UK wet civil engineering firm Land & Water has been awarded a contract, on behalf of Contractor Sir Robert McAlpine, to carry out piling works to an area of Nottingham Canal.

The project will see Land & Water install a sheet pile wall on the Canal, complete with concrete backfill and assist in the formation of a new concrete capping beam, to help protect the embankment for years to come.

Using a ravestein pontoon setup, Land & Water will be calling on its expertise and civils capabilities to install from the water as well as providing the opportunity for one of its apprentices to grow his skillset as he looks after the quality monitoring. This is part of the firm’s commitment towards safeguarding the future of the younger generation through a career in civil engineering.

Lucy Lee, Contracts Manager at Land & Water, said: “This is the first time we have worked on a project for Sir Robert McAlpine and we are excited to get started. We pride ourselves on establishing trusted relationships with our clients and we were extremely honoured to be recommended for these works by the Canal & River Trust.

Land & Water’s work on this circa £200k project highlights the firm’s commitment towards creating a unique heritage site.
