The Eastern Chapter of WEDA represents Bermuda, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida (East Coast) Georgia (Eastern), Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, DC, West Virginia, Virgin Islands and Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Conference Registration: The registration fee structure is as follows:

WEDA Member: $300
Non-member: $400
Gov’t Employee: $200
Students: Free for qualifying students

For the 2022 WEDA Eastern Chapter meeting in Albany, we want to have a topic-specific event. With this in mind, we felt a relevant topic for this year’s event is Innovation & Sustainability in the Dredging Industry.We want to encourage presentations that focus on innovations to dredging, navigation, and marine engineering and construction including topics such as dredging techniques, materials management, beneficial use of dredged materials (BUDM), survey, fuel and energy efficiencies, protection and enhancement of the marine environment, automation and labor shortage.

Presentations that focus on self-promotion, specific products or corporate marketing will not be accepted. The presenter will be allowed to have a corporate logo on the slides. The presentation should be 20 minutes with time for questions.

Submission date required no later than 31 July 2022.  If selected, presentations must be provided to the Eastern Chapter no later than 30 September 2022.

Format

  • Abstracts must be in English
  • Abstracts cannot exceed one standard-size page (8.5”x11”) of a Microsoft Word® document with 1-inch left/right/top/bottom margins
  • Abstracts must be organized under the following required subheadings:
  • Background/Objectives
    • State the objective, situation, economic driver, history, and objectives that led to the work intended to be presented.
  • Approach/ Activities
    • Describe the project of phase of the project and identify the what was done to achieve the final phase or project
  • Results/Lessons Learned
    • Discuss the final outcome of the phase or project
Abstracts must include the complete contact information for the presenting author and all co-authors (organization, postal mailing address, phone number, and email address).

Tentative Agenda

  • Tuesday (10/18/22) 8 am will start the program with an opportunity to take the Dredging 101 course followed by Dredging 201 at 1 pm. That will be followed by an Ice Breaker from 6-9
  • Wednesday’s (10/19/22) agenda will consist of technical presentations and a luncheon program that will allow members to meet with USACE district representatives on a one-on-one basis. Wednesday evening there will be a reception at the New York State Museum.
  • Thursday (10/20/22) will continue with a half-day of technical presentations and conclude with chapter business. This year will include voting in a new member to the eastern chapter board. Additional details will be sent out soon.

The hotel is in the Capital District of downtown Albany, a five-minute walk from Times Union Center. Take in views of the Hudson River and New York State Capitol from your room and enjoy our indoor pool and whirlpool. We’re also less than eight miles from Albany Airport and within two miles of the Amtrak station.

2021 WEDA Eastern Chapter Annual Meeting

The WEDA Eastern Chapter was held at the Francis Marion Hotel from October 12-14, 2021 in Charleston, SC. The Eastern Chapter Board would like to thank all of our speakers, attendees, strategic partners, corporate sponsors, exhibitors and members of the press for making the 2021 Eastern Chapter Meeting an overwhelming success!
