Watch video of Sharon Lake getting drained for dredging

A two-year project to drain, dredge and do other improvements to Sharon Lake in Sharonville, part of the Hamilton County Great Parks, began April 3rd. It will take about two months to drain the lake. Though the geese and ducks will find other water, there will be a loss of some wildlife, but ultimately their habitat will be better, with more wetlands after the renovations. The main contractor is Prus Construction. Tuesday, April 16, 2024.

Sharon Lake is almost empty.

Great Parks of Hamilton County shot this time-lapse video and announced that “the draining is nearing completion.”

Around the clock, water on the 35-acre lake has been gushing out, part of an $11.4 million restoration effort to dredge and ultimately preserve the popular fishing and boating destination in the heart of Sharon Woods park north of Cincinnati.
