Dutch ship designers Vuyk Engineering will begin using Canadian software SSI ShipConstructor across the company.

The tool is designed to aid “throughout the design, build, and maintain processes” using advanced digitalisation and 3D visualisation to build on AutoCAD and other existing digital tools.

SSI said adoption of its tools would lead to “ a more integrated design approach” with its digital twin options, including with virtual reality.

SSI worked with a local partner, NDAR, to support the switch to its technology at Vuyk.

“The adoption of ShipConstructor marks a significant milestone in our journey towards our digital transformation,” explained Sander Bot, department manager of vessel design at Vuyk Engineering.
