Kamarajar Port Limited has become the second major port in India with an operational draft of 18 metres, enabling it to accommodate fully laden Capesize vessels of up to 170,000 DWT (deadweight tonnage).
Van Oord is proud to have contributed to this achievement by executing the capital dredging works for Kamarajar Port Limited, deepening the access channel and port area to support the port’s transformation into a Cape Compliant gateway.
The enhanced draft capability will help increase cargo-handling efficiency, lower logistics costs through economies of scale, and strengthen the competitiveness of India’s growing international trade.
