Van Oord is proud to mark another important milestone in the development of the Ecowende offshore wind farm: the successful installation of the project’s first wind turbine, located approximately 53 kilometres off the Dutch coast.
This marks the transition into the next phase of the project, building on the successful completion of the foundation works.
Van Oord is proud to contribute to a project that is setting new standards for both renewable energy generation and nature enhancement. Using our next-generation offshore installation vessel Boreas, we are installing 52 Vestas V236-15.0 MW turbines. Together, these will generate 760 MW of clean energy: enough to meet around 3% of the Netherlands’ electricity demand.
This vessel is fully equipped to meet Ecowende’s stringent ecological requirements, and its deployment in the North Sea highlights both the strength of its design and the scale at which it can operate.
Van Oord is grateful to work alongside Ecowende, Vestas and all project partners and look forward to continuing the installation campaign in the months ahead.
