VICKSBURG, Miss. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Vicksburg District announced today a 25-year lease agreement with the Grenada County Board of Supervisors for the operation of the Dam Area Central recreation area and the Thunder Field Area at Grenada Lake, effective September 1, 2026.
Under the agreement, Grenada County assumes operations and maintenance responsibilities for both locations. The areas will continue to operate as parks and remain open to the public.
Dam Area Central, located below Grenada Dam, features tennis and basketball courts, baseball and softball fields, a walking trail, two group-use pavilions, a disc golf course, and playgrounds. Thunder Field, situated along the Old Highway 7 entrance below the dam, serves as a primary venue for community activities, including Thunder on Water events.
Leases and partnership agreements enable USACE to effectively manage recreation and environmental resources.
