Bullet points:

On August 3rd, a Bangladesh delegation visited Ellicott Dredges’ headquarters in Baltimore, Maryland. The visit was organized and sponsored by the US Trade and Development Agency.

Most of the delegation members were already familiar with the Ellicott brand; however, the group was able to get a full 360 degree view of the Ellicott process starting from the early stages of the product life cycle from design to final finished Ellicott equipment.

The delegation and Ellicott were excited to be together in Baltimore since the long awaited Trade Mission had been delayed from 2020 by the pandemic.

This visit finally gave the Ministry of Shipping and BIWTA (Bangladesh Inland Waterway Transit Authority) officials a chance to dive into the rich history of the Ellicott brand.

Currently, BIWTA has 35 various types of dredgers with another 17 on the way. More than a third of BIWTA’s dredge fleet are Ellicott.

The delegation was happy to hear that Ellicott provides equipment with highly sought-after dredge technology features such as titling spuds, spud carriage, and GPS dredge monitoring systems – all of which are incorporated on BIWTA’s current Ellicott dredges.

Today, August 9, the delegation is having a meeting in New Orleans including visiting Dredging Supply Co.

Event background:
The Delegation of 11 people was led by the Minister of Shipping and the BIWTA Chairman with half from the Ministry of shipping, and half from BIWTA, plus a few private sector delegates.
