It’s part of a deal to provide dune restoration and beach replenishment on the St Clair-St Kilda coast.

From Wednesday, about eight and a half thousand cubic metres of sand will be stockpiled at the western end of Kettle Park.

A fence to surround the sand will be constructed today.

Willowridge Developments offered the sand to the Dunedin City Council free of charge, saving ratepayers at least one million dollars

More than eight thousand cubic metres is already stockpiled at Tahuna Park.
