Autonomous dredge targets limestone
Supreme Manufacturing recently completed assembly of a state-of-the-art dredge. The company says the 30-cu.-yd. machine is the first of its kind, with the dredge designed to replace older dragline excavators previously used throughout Florida for mining blasted limestone. Designed for autonomous 24-hour operation, the dredge provides a safe way to mine challenging material. The dredge’s crushers and screens were designed to handle the challenges of Florida limestone’s unique geology. During the design phase, Supreme says extra attention was paid to ensuring the dredge and its floating conveyor were strong enough to withstand hurricanes.
Designed for portable sand mining
The IMS Model 7012 HP Versi-Dredge is engineered for sand mining operations requiring a compact, transportable dredging solution. According to Ellicott Dredge Enterprises, the dredge features a GIW 10×12 high-chrome sand pump and dredges to depths of up to 30 ft. while remaining transportable on a single truck when fully assembled. The dredge features dual-joystick controls, optional dredging GPS and the company’s Starwheel Drive self-propulsion system, which eliminates the need for setting anchors or swing wires. An optional WeedMaster cutterhead allows the dredge to clear aquatic vegetation from wash ponds, giving operators a dual-purpose machine for dredging sand, silt and mud, as well as cutting and pumping vegetation.
